BCI Burke has announced the addition of Burke Turf™, a new artificial surface designed to combine beauty, durability and safety for the company’s full range of playgrounds.

“This is a major addition to our product line, because every playground needs a surface that cushions falls while meeting the needs of our customers for low maintenance, attractive appearance and sound value,” said Tim Ahern, president of BCI Burke.

Burke Turf, manufactured by XGrass Worldwide Turf Solutions of Dalton, Ga., has the look of a fine blade fescue or blue grass lawn. Made of polyethylene and monofilament fibers, with nylon thatch layers, it meets the ASTM requirements for falls from heights up to 12 feet.

“This solution is more sanitary than many products on the market that are made with sand, pea gravel, mulch or shredded tires. And of course, it won’t scatter and have to be replaced. It is designed to drain quickly, so children can resume play soon after a rainfall,” said Ahern.

Alternative playground surfaces will continue to be available through Burke representatives, Ahern said.
