Highland Park UMC - Dallas, TX

Worn out and splintered play equipment that became hazardous to the children of Highland Park United Methodist Church prompted the officials to research the best option for their young players, ages 2-5. BCI Burke representative Child's Play had worked with the group to install other playgrounds and the reviews were wildly positive. The decision makers of the church valued Burke's philosophy of our Total Cost of Ownership Package™ and their focus on premium quality, warranty and service. They wanted their playground to last for generations and not have to face a hassle if a service issue came up.

To provide a playground that developed the children's mental, physical and social being, the playground experts at Child's Play and church officials synergized their ideas into the perfect plan. Together they were able to make the playground an integral part of both the church and the child development center.

The result of the planning was play equipment constructed of an inviting mix of green, brown, and tan that blends into the church's landscaping yet is a play magnet for the young faithful. From the Rock Crawl to the Dynamic Pads and Drum Panel, and then onto the multitude of other play events, the playground brings rave reviews from the senior pastor, church staff, parents, and children alike. The artificial Burke Turf™ grass created the most buzz. Aside from making the playground site aesthetically pleasing all year through, the grass drains rapidly, and allows the children not only to run and play but also to comfortably lie down and look up at the sky and trees.

Like most projects of this scope, the installation did have challenges. Most notably, the entire project - from removing the old playground, digging out the wood chips, putting in the new equipment and placing all of the layers underneath the artificial turf - needed to be completed during a two week holiday break. Another obstacle to consider was the playground site had a unique shape with several trees that needed to be considered in the design. The Child's Play team was more than up to the challenge and everything was in place when the children returned to the playground.
