National Playground Safety Week.

Specify Alternate Text

Founded by the National Program for Playground Safety (NPPS) in 1997, National Playground Safety Week is “a time to focus on children’s outdoor play environments. A time to pledge to use good judgment when playing. A time for gratitude for all the adults who work tirelessly on maintaining our playgrounds.”

Play is essential to childhood and development. To keep play fun and productive, we need to focus on safe yet challenging play and adhere to the SAFE acronym: Supervision, Age Appropriate, Fall Surfacing and the Equipment. At Burke we are serious about safety and are the only playground manufacturer to partner with the National Program for Playground Safety and provide a free Safe Playground Supervision Kit with each Burke play system purchased.

So celebrate Playground Safety Week…go outside and practice safer play and be proactive -be on the lookout at your local playground for broken parts, rust, protruding hardware, sharp edges or other areas of disrepair. Report them to the playground owner or supervisor. For more ideas on how to participate in Playground Safety Week visit the NPPS website at: http://playgroundsafety.org/safety-week/introduction.
