Sometimes a playground is more than just a nice place to play. Sometimes it's a promise, an investment and a commitment to a community. The Southeast Community Playground is an incredible place to play but is also the realization of a dream and hope for the future. It's a place to gather in the same neighborhood where Habitat for Humanity® built both their fist and 600th homes -and many in between. As Habitat stepped out of homes and into recreation spaces for this project, they involved the community in the process so the space would be done by the community for the community and would be truly theirs. From the playground to the track and the stage to the tribute wall displaying the names of many displaced during urban renewal, this outdoor recreation space is now a place for adventure, a place to build community and a place to exercise, play and move outdoors.
